La forma delle emozioni

Nowadays it is possible to see systems called “smart speakers” populating our homes; these systems in the end are just virtual assistants physical interfaces. Nonetheless, if we imagine to relate to these interfaces through a dynamic affective interaction, the walls that separate the artificial from the human could become thinner and even disappear. Thus, which are the consequences ,the opportunities and the threats that arise from the design of empathetic experiences activated by artificial intelligence (AI) techs? The following research aim at answering that question, exploring a wide range of topics, it starts from the dawn of AI studies and it ends up understanding the theories of human emotions. These two worlds are then merged together analyzing the state of the art of affective computing technologies, hence presenting, as a conclusive objective, a new form of personalized affective interaction.

Oggigiorno è possibile scorgere nelle nostre case dei sistemi denominati “smart speaker”, questi altro non sono che interfacce fisiche di assistenti virtuali. Ma, nel momento in cui immaginiamo di relazionarci con tali interfacce attraverso un’interazione affettiva dinamica, le pareti che separano l’artificiale dall’umano potrebbero assottigliarsi fino a scomparire. Quali sono quindi le conseguenze, le opportunità e i pericoli che scaturiscono dalla creazione di esperienze empatiche attivate da tecnologie di intelligenza artificiale (AI)? La seguente ricerca è un percorso volto alla risposta di tale domanda, che, partendo dagli albori degli studi sull’AI, spazia fino ad esplorare le teorie delle emozioni umane. Questi due mondi vengono poi fusi insieme, analizzando lo stato dell’arte delle tecnologie di affective computing e presentando, infine, una nuova forma di interazione affettiva personalizzata.
