This work reports an analysis of the possible applications of neural networks(NN) to the control of integrated optical circuits. The considered circuits are based on two fundamental components of photonic integrated circuits (PIC): Mach-Zehnder interferometers and ring resonators. First of all, both are studied individually. Subsequently, more complex filtersare analyzed. As for filters based on ring resonators, a control system based on neural networks is proposed. The possibility of applying neural networks for the control of filters of higher order is then considered. As regards Mach-Zehnder interferometers, an efficient solution has been developed for the single stage interferometer, and also for two multi-stage filters. The first one is a filter with four Mach-Zehnder interferometers, the secondone is a 4-by-4 optical switch.

Abstract
The first one is a filter with four Mach-Zehnder interferometers, the secondone is a 4-by-4 optical switch.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
