Musica e spettacolo alla corte dei Gonzaga. Un progetto di valorizzazione per la Sala dello Specchio ed il Cortile delle Otto Facce in Palazzo Ducale

The museum complex of the Palazzo Ducale in Mantua offers visitors a succession of scenic suggestions, accessible through the many environments that were added during the construction of the Palace and each characterized by a different way of living the court. This characteristic variety of situations represents the catalyst of the contemporary conception of museum, that is to assimilate the original function of the theatre of involvement of the spectator on the scene. The Cortile delle Otto Facce and the Sala dello Specchio in the Corte Vecchia are places of extraordinary historical and artistic interest, inextricably linked to the figure of the architect Bernardino Facciotto who designed them in the late sixteenth century, on behalf of the Gonzaga family. The patronage of the family brought composers such as Claudio Monteverdi and others to these environments, who immortalized its beauty with their music. The thesis in question has the aim of giving new prestige to these spaces, which today are not accessible to the visitor, inserting them naturally in the current exhibition and enhancing the user experience through their unique scenic architecture. The new structures designed for these environments are intended to convert portions of the Museum into real scenes of a new theatre of modernity where the public itself wears a mask of the scene, becoming an actor of occasionally organized shows or events able to ensure that capacity of aggregation typical of the avant-garde museum. The intervention is focused on strengthening the design idea of Duke Guglielmo Gonzaga for the Green Apartment, that is to obtain inside the Palace a microcosm of environments gravitating on the Courtyard of the Eight Faces and connected by a new structure in the gallery that multiplies the possibilities of overlooking the arena at the centre of space. A modern theatrical machine that today finds the opportunity to be presented again, recomposed according to the most recent updates in the field of theatre in view of a targeted enhancement of the museum complex.

Il complesso museale del Palazzo Ducale di Mantova offre ai visitatori un susseguirsi di suggestioni sceniche, fruibili attraverso i numerosi ambienti che si sono sommati durante la costruzione della Reggia e caratterizzati ciascuno da un diverso modo di vivere la corte. Questa caratteristica varietà di situazioni rappresenta il catalizzatore della concezione contemporanea di museo, ossia di assimilare l’originaria funzione del teatro di coinvolgimento dello spettatore sulla scena. Il Cortile delle Otto Facce e la Sala dello Specchio in Corte Vecchia sono luoghi di straordinario interesse storico ed artistico, legati indissolubilmente alla figura dell’architetto Bernardino Facciotto che li progettò verso la fine del Cinquecento, su commissione della famiglia Gonzaga. Il mecenatismo della casata portò poi in questi ambienti compositori quali Claudio Monteverdi ed altri, che ne immortalarono la bellezza con la loro musica. La tesi in oggetto ha l’obiettivo di dare nuovo lustro a questi spazi, ad oggi non fruibili al visitatore, inserendoli naturalmente nel percorso espositivo attuale e potenziandone l’esperienza fruitiva tramite la loro peculiare architettura scenografica. Le nuove strutture ideate per questi ambienti hanno lo scopo di convertire porzioni di Museo in vere scene di un nuovo teatro della contemporaneità dove il pubblico stesso veste una maschera di scena, diventando attore di spettacoli organizzati occasionalmente o eventi in grado di garantire quella capacità aggregativa tipica del museo d’avanguardia. L’intervento è focalizzato sul rafforzamento dell’idea progettuale del Duca Guglielmo Gonzaga per l’Appartamento Verde, ossia ricavare all’interno del Palazzo un microcosmo di ambienti gravitanti sul Cortile delle Otto Facce e collegati da una nuova struttura a ballatoio che moltiplichi le possibilità di affaccio sull’arena al centro dello spazio. Una macchina teatrale moderna che oggi trova l’occasione di essere nuovamente presentata, ricomposta secondo i più recenti aggiornamenti in ambito teatrale nell'ottica di una valorizzazione mirata del Complesso museale.
