Industry 4.0 implementation in the pharmaceutical industry in North Africa : stakeholder network value analysis

Pharma 4.0 is the Industry 4.0 applied to the pharmaceutical industry. It is still a relatively new concept in the manufacturing industry and implementation remains expensive as well as difficult. This paper aims at building a roadmap for Pharma 4.0 implementation in North Africa. The study analyzes the stakeholders present in the pharmaceutical industry as well as their relationships in order to build a roadmap for such an implementation. After an extensive literature review on Industry 4.0 and Pharma 4.0, 10 actors in the pharmaceutical industry with different functions were interviewed to determine the final list of the stakeholders and their inputs. Using the qualitative interviews, I built a model that represents the Stakeholder Network in the North African pharmaceutical industry and studied it with a Stakeholder Network Value Analysis. The interviews highlighted the complexity and variety of relationships that exist between players in the pharmaceutical industry. The quantitative analysis contains a questionnaire which was sent to a sample of 34 people with different backgrounds who represent the stakeholder groups studied in order to be able to quantify their value flows. Subsequently, the dependency structure matrix made it possible to identify the exact number of value loops to study in the system. This research is data-oriented, and the results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis show that in order to successfully implement Pharma 4.0 in North Africa, companies should start by preparing their manager for new tasks through targeted training as well as improving the exchange of financial and material flows with their business partners.

Pharma 4.0 è l'industria 4.0 applicata all'industria farmaceutica. È ancora un concetto relativamente nuovo nel settore manifatturiero e l'implementazione rimane costosa e difficile. Questo documento mira a costruire una tabella di marcia per l'implementazione di Pharma 4.0 in Nord Africa. Lo studio analizza le parti interessate presenti nell'industria farmaceutica e le loro relazioni al fine di costruire una tabella di marcia per tale implementazione. Dopo un'ampia revisione della letteratura su Industry 4.0 e Pharma 4.0, sono stati intervistati 10 attori del settore farmaceutico con diverse funzioni per determinare l'elenco finale degli stakeholder e i loro input. Usando le interviste qualitative, ho costruito un modello che rappresenta la rete delle parti interessate nell'industria farmaceutica nordafricana e l'ho studiato con un'analisi del valore della rete delle parti interessate. Le interviste hanno messo in luce la complessità e la varietà delle relazioni esistenti tra gli attori dell'industria farmaceutica. L'analisi quantitativa contiene un questionario che è stato inviato a un campione di 34 persone con background diversi che rappresentano i gruppi di stakeholder studiati al fine di poter quantificare i loro flussi di valore. Successivamente, la matrice della struttura delle dipendenze ha permesso di identificare il numero esatto di cicli di valori da studiare nel sistema. Questa ricerca è orientata dati, e i risultati dell'analisi quantitativa e qualitativa mostrano che, al fine di implementare con successo Pharma 4.0 in Nord Africa, le aziende dovrebbero iniziare a preparare i propri managers per nuovi compiti attraverso una formazione specifica e a migliorare lo scambio di risorse finanziarie e flussi di materiale con i loro partner commerciali.
