The blue-green space system composed of the water body and green space is an important index to regulate and support the ecosystem and to evaluate the livability of a city. In this sense, Carrara is rich in green space and blue water resources. The Carrione is a short watercourse of about 20km in length, which connects the marble quarry basins, through the City of Carrara to the Mediterranean Sea. With the development of urbanization, the Carrione river is confined to the limited urban space by the flood wall, and the water quality and riverbed are seriously polluted by industrial residues. And the various green space is also facing the problems of area reduction and quality decline. The superior natural environment and beautiful scenery, social culture, and industrial heritage of the region provide it with extraordinary opportunities for regeneration. In the past few decades, the construction, railway, and other infrastructure have been cutting the whole city. However, in the highly degraded semi-industrial natural environment, the abandoned railway and factory occupied land has become the useless land of the city, but it can also be the historical monument and starting point of urban regeneration. While human intervention in the past was basically functional in nature, in recent years there has been an increasing emphasis on biodiversity and habitat conservation/recreation, enhancing connectivity, accessibility, and public spaces, and contributing to climatic resilience. This project will start from the territorial scale, explore the relationship between watershed, city, and landscape. Then propose the strategies for recovering the watershed landscape, and establish a new blue-green system on the different scales.

Abstract
Then propose the strategies for recovering the watershed landscape, and establish a new blue-green system on the different scales.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
