The Briati center. Promoting Muranese culture and community

The Briati Center interprets culture as a tool for supporting and enhancing social values, increasing the sense of belonging, and promoting cohesion in the island community of Murano. Located in the historic, community-based Briati Hospice with its restored garden, chapel, and cloister, it represents a progressive sense of historic preservation and contemporary relevance. This local, social, community-driven process of the Center focuses on the island and neighborhood culture of the Muranese, in which people of different generations share the same space daily, carrying out activities, chatting, playing… For this reason, the Briati Center creates new meeting opportunities, and represents a new point of reference for the inhabitants. It takes care of collecting and sharing information, documents, stories, interviews, photographs, objects... the things that represent meaning and value in the communal life of Murano. The Briati Center provides the place and opportunities where locals can spend their free time, socialize, share their stories, traditions and dreams, and simply get to know each other better. The Briati Center enhances community and culture, and will create a weaving of stories that can be handed down, which can represent the Muranese community from every point of view.

Il Centro Briati interpreta la cultura come uno strumento per sostenere e valorizzare i valori sociali, accrescere il senso di appartenenza e promuovere la coesione nella comunità isolana di Murano. Situato nello storico Ospizio Briati, con il suo giardino restaurato, la cappella e il chiostro, rappresenta un progressivo senso di conservazione storica e rilevanza contemporanea. Questo processo locale, sociale e guidato dalla comunità del Centro si concentra sulla cultura isolana e di quartiere Muranese, in cui persone di diverse generazioni condividono quotidianamente lo stesso spazio, svolgono attività, chiacchierano, giocano... Per questo motivo, il Centro Briati crea nuove opportunità di incontro e rappresenta un nuovo punto di riferimento per gli abitanti. Si occupa di raccogliere e condividere informazioni, documenti, storie, interviste, fotografie, oggetti... le cose che rappresentano significato e valore nella vita comune di Murano. Il Centro Briati offre il luogo e le opportunità in cui i cittadini possono trascorrere il loro tempo libero, socializzare, condividere storie, tradizioni e sogni e semplicemente conoscersi meglio. Il Centro Briati valorizza la comunità e la cultura e creerà un intreccio di storie che possono essere tramandate, che possono rappresentare la comunità Muranese da ogni punto di vista.
