The present work is aimed to investigate composite impact damage on proprotor blades belonging to the tiltrotor Agusta Westland 609; in particular bird strike events on acrshort{acr-gfrp} and acrshort{acr-cfrp} laminates, major concern in aeronautic industry. The ultimate goal was to build a numerical model of the laminates able to describe their damage in such events, using LS-DYNA. After a collection of previous lab. experience and some bibliographic research, baseline laminates' models were built. Then, an experimental campaign of drop-weight impact tests on representative specimens started, along with its numerical simulation and the consequent correlation phase. Third, a damage criterion was chosen and a tool was implemented within the LS-PrePost, checking its reliability on the drop tests. At last, the full blade acrshort{acr-fem} model was built and three bird strike simulations were performed at as many sensitive locations, evaluating the final damage.
