The urban texture of Milan is very dense and lacks a continuous ecological system able to improve environmental and social conditions. A contemporary topic in the regeneration of the city is the requalification of the abandoned railway yards, one of which is Porta Romana, that can bring significant improvements to the urban context thanks to their huge dimensions and great connections to the mobility infrastructures. In this project, the aim is to insert in the city temporary residences for Olympic athletes before and university students later and a great urban park connected thanks to green corridors to fragments of green in the city and Parco Agricolo Sud, to generate a system of biodiversity. When dealing with public space, it is an architect’s responsibility to design for all the living beings to coexist in an inclusive and sustainable shared environment. This project is “ethical” because it relies on these principles and not on profit interests, giving back life to 180.000 sqm that has been abandoned for almost a century. To give a shape to these ideas, before designing the landscape and the architecture, I analysed the environmental situation on a global and local scale, I looked through the needs I should answer in public and private spaces and I researched similar and comparable case studies to take as practical inspirations.

Abstract
To give a shape to these ideas, before designing the landscape and the architecture, I analysed the environmental situation on a global and local scale, I looked through the needs I should answer in public and private spaces and I researched similar and comparable case studies to take as practical inspirations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
