The aim of this research is to investigate and analyze data available from the Crunchbase database about startups operating in the Digital Health field and engaged in the development of digital healthcare solutions in favor of citizen-patients. The analysis brought about the identification of 302 startups whose categories, enabling technologies, geographical distribution, and financial data were examined to get a better insight into what they actually are and their function. An in-depth analysis of the Digital Therapeutics (DTx) identified in the database was also carried out, focusing on the most relevant cases in order to get a better understanding of their ways of working and the benefits obtained by patients when using such innovative therapeutic interventions.
La ricerca si è posta l’obiettivo di investigare ed analizzare dati disponibili all’interno dei database di Crunchbase su startup in ambito Digital Health impiegate nello sviluppo di soluzioni sanitarie digitali indirizzate al cittadino-paziente. L’analisi ha identificato 302 startup di cui, al fine di migliorare la loro comprensione ed interpretazione, sono state esaminate le categorie di applicazioni, le tecnologie abilitanti, la distribuzione geografica e i dati finanziari. E’ stata inoltre effettuata un’analisi approfondita delle Terapie Digitali presenti nel database, focalizzando l’attenzione sui casi più rilevanti allo scopo di fornire una migliore comprensione della modalità di azione e dei benefici ottenuti dai pazienti nell’utilizzo di questi interventi terapeutici innovativi.
