Empirical research aims to understand the clothing behavior of business people who want to preserve a professional appearance during business trips. Clothes are external objects used for both self-perception and appearance management, and business people pay attention to their clothes to have a professional appearance. Interviews were conducted with 15 participants to understand the role of the business attire and to learn the clothing criteria of business people who travel frequently and their clothing behaviors. The results show that the clothing behavior of business travelers depends on dress codes, presentation of professional appearance, travel conditions, and clothing properties.
La ricerca empirica indaga come uomini e donne d’affari si approcciano alla scelta del proprio vestiario per mantenere un aspetto professionale durante i viaggi di lavoro. Gli abiti sono il guscio esterno necessario sia per la percezione di sé che per la cura del proprio aspetto, e gli uomini (e le donne) d’affari prestano attenzione al proprio aspetto per apparire sempre professionali. Sono state condotte interviste con 15 partecipanti per comprendere il ruolo dell'abbigliamento nel mondo del business, per apprendere i criteri con cui chi viaggia frequentemente per lavoro seleziona i capi da portare e come si relaziona alle scelte dell’abbigliamento più adatto. I risultati mostrano che ciò che influisce sulle scelte d’abbigliamento di uomini e donne che viaggiano spesso per affari sono il dress code, il presentarsi sempre con un aspetto professionale, le condizioni di viaggio e le caratteristiche dei capi.
