The aim of this dissertation is to describe the behavior of the Gasdyn software in the framework of the modeling silencers designed for the attenuation of the gasdynamic noise generated in the engine with an internal combustion. The calculation code was developed by the Internal Combustion Engines research group of the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano cooperatively with the company Exothermia. The software has the means to perform 1D fluid-dynamics simulation of non-stationary flows and reagents flows within the system. Initially, a white noise signal is analyzed in detail as a boundary condition for the inlet. Subsequently, various types of silencers are presented, including simple geometry, perforated and with sound-absorbing material, whose acoustic performance is evaluated by means of Transfer Function (TF) or Transmission Loss (TL) measurements.

Abstract
The aim of this dissertation is to describe the behavior of the Gasdyn software in the framework of the modeling silencers designed for the attenuation of the gasdynamic noise generated in the engine with an internal combustion. The calculation code was developed by the Internal Combustion Engines research group of the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano cooperatively with the company Exothermia. The software has the means to perform 1D fluid-dynamics simulation of non-stationary flows and reagents flows within the system. Initially, a white noise signal is analyzed in detail as a boundary condition for the inlet. Subsequently, various types of silencers are presented, including simple geometry, perforated and with sound-absorbing material, whose acoustic performance is evaluated by means of Transfer Function (TF) or Transmission Loss (TL) measurements.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
