Lima 4.0. Territorial fragility as an agent of agricultural innovation. A design-driven research

The intense and rapid urbanisation of Lima has reduced its agricultural land from 600 sq km in the early 20th century to only 125 sq km today. This continuous expansion is currently threatening the Lurin Valley, an area of important natural and patrimonial heritage located in the southern edge of the city. Considering the strong role that agri-culture has had throughout Peruvian history, the project researches transformative solutions that can preserve and strengthen the value of this agricultural landscape in the context of contemporary urban society. The architecture spreads throughout the valley, setting up a strong dialogue with the land while keeping it untouched.

L'intensa e rapida urbanizzazione di Lima ha ridotto i suoi terreni agricoli da 600 kmq all'inizio del XX secolo a soli 125 kmq oggi. Questa espansione sta attualmente invadendo la Valle del Lurin, una zona di importante patrimonio storico e naturale situata nella periferia sud della città. Considerando il ruolo chiave che l'agri-cultura ha avuto nel corso della storia peruviana, il progetto ricerca soluzioni transformative che possano proteggere e rafforzare il valore di questo paesaggio agricolo nel contesto della città contemporanea. L'architettura si propaga nella valle, instaurando un forte dialogo con il territorio pur mantenendolo intatto.
