The project is working on the development of a temporary village to be intended not just as a low-impact transformation for the Olympic venue, but as a new collective structure for the contemporary needs. The background of the work is the whole Lombardian territorial section from Milano (metropolitan and urban gate/plain) to Livigno (Alpine gate/mountain). 2026 Winter Olympic Games is a great occasion for the project itself: Porta Romana in fact will host the Olympic Temporary Village with 1.500 athletes and a strong variety of services and functions. A peculiarity of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games is the strong focus on the concept of eco-sustainability. It will be evident in the building project for the construction of the infrastructures: temporary buildings that can be used again in the future. After the Games, the area is planned to become a student housing innovative district, strongly involved in the urban dynamic but, as well, characterized by a large eco-park, covering 80% of the surface. The object of the project is designing a complex and integrated public space in Milano, placed in the area in the transformation of Porta Romana, located on the margin between the center of the city and the ‘periphery’. We work on a design approach focused on the notions of ‘context’ and ‘belonging’, through strategic and discrete actions, highlighting the crucial places of the city and their transformative potential. In and around the Olympic Village a series of complex and integrated collective spaces will also be designed for the Games and for the city's new district.
Il progetto sta lavorando allo sviluppo di un villaggio temporaneo da intendere non solo come trasformazione a basso impatto per la sede olimpica, ma come nuova struttura collettiva per le esigenze contemporanee. Lo sfondo del lavoro è l'intera sezione territoriale lombarda da Milano (metropolitana e porta / pianura urbana) a Livigno (porta alpina / monte). I Giochi Olimpici Invernali 2026 sono la grande occasione per il progetto stesso: Porta Romana ospiterà infatti il Villaggio Olimpico Temporaneo con 1.500 atleti e una forte varietà di servizi e funzioni. Una particolarità dei Giochi Olimpici Invernali 2026 è la forte attenzione al concetto di ecosostenibilità. Sarà evidente nel progetto edilizio per la realizzazione delle infrastrutture: edifici temporanei che potranno essere riutilizzati in futuro. Dopo i Giochi, l'area è destinata a diventare un quartiere studentesco innovativo, fortemente coinvolto nella dinamica urbana ma, allo stesso tempo, caratterizzato da un grande eco-parco, che copre l'80% della superficie. L'oggetto del progetto è la progettazione di uno spazio pubblico complesso e integrato a Milano, situato nell'area in trasformazione di Porta Romana, posta al confine tra il centro della città e la “periferia”. Lavoriamo su un approccio progettuale incentrato sulle nozioni di "contesto" e "appartenenza", attraverso azioni strategiche e discrete, mettendo in luce i luoghi cruciali della città e il loro potenziale trasformativo. All'interno e intorno al Villaggio Olimpico saranno progettati anche una serie di spazi collettivi complessi e integrati per i Giochi e per il nuovo quartiere cittadino.
