Architecture is constantly evolving and I am fascinated by the ability it has to identify a language that is always a mirror of the times. Earthquakes, bombings and natural disasters lead to the consequent need to restore a built core, to rebuild to give new life to the places. A project that arises in the vicinity of pre-existing buildings or architectural ruins must be the result of a study of the history of the place and the importance it had to allow an intervention in compliance with the genius loci. I therefore decided to develop through this thesis a design process for the reconstruction of the historic core of the city of Amatrice, devastated following the earthquake in central Italy in 2016. Although there are no defined rules for rebuilding, it is important to consider the impact that the trauma has had on people, in order to identify the essence of the need to which the project wants to respond. I studied the city of Amatrice, in its history and evolution over the centuries, focusing my attention on buildings and places of greater historical and urban importance. The 2016 earthquake destroyed almost all of the historic core of the village. I therefore made a catalog of the interventions carried out to date, to map the current situation of the reconstruction, understanding the needs of the city, the places that need to be restored and the functions for which a new location has already been planned. My project, born during the Final Laboratory course, returns an urban reconstruction plan, analyzed in different scales. The urban layout recalls the evolutionary history of the city, allowing the historical fabric that has come to emerge over time through the contrast between full and empty. The analysis of building types aims to determine a residential and commercial location on the urban fabric, in favor of social restoration. This project was born from the analysis of the territory, analyzes the trauma suffered by considering its consequences, and researches a new urban life with a design proposal.

Abstract
This project was born from the analysis of the territory, analyzes the trauma suffered by considering its consequences, and researches a new urban life with a design proposal.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
