Historical shapes have defined cities since ancient times, they are a mark of the military city, directly associated with safety and union. Today, the historical framework defines not only the past but the future. This thesis proposes a reconnection with both dimensions of the historical wall: creating a school, as a symbol of safety and prosperity of a city, and a tower with a library and an auditorium that not only intellectually but physically represent a new landmark in the city urban area. Located in a disabled military perimeter the projects strategic position creates a new front for the city of Piacenza defined by a new green area. The nature is present not only in its surroundings but in the design strategy, creating ground for a connection between today’s generation and the future’s ecological concerns.

Abstract
Historical shapes have defined cities since ancient times, they are a mark of the military city, directly associated with safety and union. Today, the historical framework defines not only the past but the future. This thesis proposes a reconnection with both dimensions of the historical wall: creating a school, as a symbol of safety and prosperity of a city, and a tower with a library and an auditorium that not only intellectually but physically represent a new landmark in the city urban area. Located in a disabled military perimeter the projects strategic position creates a new front for the city of Piacenza defined by a new green area. The nature is present not only in its surroundings but in the design strategy, creating ground for a connection between today’s generation and the future’s ecological concerns.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
