The scope of this master thesis work is to lay the foundation for the development of a dynamic simulator for lighter than air (LTA) aircrafts, namely airships and aerostats. In the present work, the attention was focused on designing the so called "pre-processor", i.e. a code which can transform the geometry of the desired vehicle, provided as an input by the user, into an inertial object through class-oriented programming. This will be fed to a linearized stability analyzer to predict the dynamic behaviour of the LTA. The simulation tool is not meant to provide highly accurate results, instead its purpose is to serve as an initial design tool to provide to the manufacturer the main characteristic of the LTA, specially in terms of stability.
Lo scopo di questa tesi è gettare le basi per lo sviluppo di un simulatore dinamico per velivoli Lighter Than Air (LTA), ovvero dirigibili e palloni aerostatici. Nel presente lavoro ci si è focalizzati sulla progettazione del cosiddetto "pre-processore", ovvero un codice in grado di trasformare la geometria del veicolo desiderato, fornito come input dall’utente, in un oggetto inerziale attraverso la programmazione a classi. Quest’oggetto sarà inviato a un analizzatore di stabilità linearizzato per prevedere il comportamento dell’LTA. Il presente simulatore non ha lo scopo di fornire risultati altamente accurati, ma di servire come strumento di progettazione iniziale per fornire al produttore le caratteristiche principale dell’LTA, specialmente in termini di stabilità.
