In this study it is discussed the development of an ex-novo micro-compression device (MCD) for dynamic image-guided failure assessment (DIGFA) of human trabecular bone microstructure and bone microdamage. DIGFA will be performed at the SYRMEP beamline of the ELETTRA Synchrotron using synchrotron radiation-based computed tomography (SR CT). The designed MCD has to comply the dimensional and weight requirements imposed by the SYRMEP beamline. Moreover, the device has to be X–ray transparent for an angular field of view of 360°. Additionally, it has been implemented the electronic control for the linear stepper motor and the load cell, using an Arduino UNO board. Lastly, preliminary tests, carried out at the Politecnico di Milano, will permit to analyse the local trabecular bone properties in the proximal femoral, depending on the anatomical site.

Abstract
Lastly, preliminary tests, carried out at the Politecnico di Milano, will permit to analyse the local trabecular bone properties in the proximal femoral, depending on the anatomical site.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
