Landscape identity mosaic in Abbiategrasso

Abbiategrasso has a very rich territory both from the agricultural point of view, linked to the rural identity of the place, and from an ecological point of view, since part of the municipal area is located within Ticino Park. The element of water appears in the area as a permanent trace of time passing by and it leaves memories of tangible and intangible values. The thesis "Landscape identity mosaic in Abbiategrasso" aims to use the existing soft mobility network, in combination with a new system of cycle and pedestrian paths, in order to enhance the identity of the territory and improve user awareness, fruition and promotion of the place. The uniqueness of this area, such as the system of water meadows, fontanili, the complex system of canals, the historical and cultural heritage of the area and the agricultural identity, must be valued according to a vision that looks to the future also through the use of new technologies to support the local economy. The project aims to restore a bike and pedestrian network in the area between Abbiategrasso and Morimondo, that reconnects the Ticino river with the rural identity of the place and with the surrounding towns, creating new centralities that inhabitants and tourists can experience, highlighting the cultural landscape, the identity heritage of the place and also the ecological aspect.

Abbiategrasso ha un territorio molto ricco sia dal punto di vista di produzione agricola, legato all’identità rurale del luogo, sia dal punto di vista ecologico, essendo parte del territorio comunale inserito all’interno del Parco del Ticino. L’elemento acqua si presenta nel territorio come una traccia permanente del tempo che scorre e lascia memorie di valori materiali ed intangibili. Il progetto di tesi “Landscape identity mosaic in Abbiategrasso” si propone di utilizzare il network di mobilità dolce esistente, in combinazione con un nuovo sistema di percorsi ciclopedonali, per poter valorizzare l’identità del territorio e migliorare consapevolezza del fruitore e promozione del luogo. Le unicità di questa zona, come il sistema delle marcite, i fontanili, il complesso sistema di canali, il patrimonio storico e culturale della zona e l'identità agricola, devono essere valorizzate secondo una visione che guardi al futuro anche attraverso l’utilizzo di nuove tecnologie a supporto dell’economia locale. Il progetto punta al ripristino nella zona tra Abbiategrasso e Morimondo di un network ciclopedonale che vada a ricollegare il fiume Ticino con la realtà rurale del luogo e con le cittadine limitrofe, creando nuove centralità che gli abitanti ed i turisti possano vivere evidenziando sia il paesaggio culturale e il patrimonio identitario del luogo che l'aspetto ecologico.
