In the domestic quarantine of this latest, unexpected pandemic, each of us has improvised as a designer: almost without realizing it, we have investigated and experimented with new limits and possibilities of living; we have created, by necessity, alcoves to work, to relax, to practice physical activity, eat or sleep. Our house was the home of our family, of course, 24 hours a day, but also of birthday parties, business meetings, yoga sessions…. all virtual, in improvised real spaces. The aim of this thesis is indeed to propose a way to overcome these multiple and different needs that all share the same space, ensuring flexibility and customization through a system of modular partition panels. The PIXO system allows total freedom in creating a series of smaller environments, each of them dedicated to specific activities, starting from a single larger space. The thesis is divided into five thematic areas: the first part investigates the deep meanings of the home environment, between sociology and psychology, to understand what the home really means for each individual. Not only a physical shelter, but also a refuge for the mind, a container of our dreams and our hopes, to which we ourselves give shape. The second and third parts focus in particular on the Covid-19 pandemic and how it has affected the population and the environment, public but also domestic, in particular the Italian case. In fact, there have been several attempts to equip the space to adapt it to new rhythms and new needs, but also to find a way to spend the days during the quarantine. The fourth part deals with the theme of space linked to social relations, which have been radically modified by anti-contagion measures. Distancing and quarantine have led to a massive use of technology, and to new languages given by the new communication filter, the screen. Finally, the fifth part illustrates some recent case studies that have social distancing, the need for security and flexibility of space as protagonists; the five categories into which the case studies are divided are the same that are used to develop the design part, the PIXO system.

Abstract
Finally, the fifth part illustrates some recent case studies that have social distancing, the need for security and flexibility of space as protagonists; the five categories into which the case studies are divided are the same that are used to develop the design part, the PIXO system.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
