The following project aims to give support to sustainable tourism in Trentino. Tourism is the largest industry in the world, involving many professional figures and working sector, and especially Italy is a worldwide know destination. It is worth remembering that besides the business impact on the destinations, tourism flows heavily affect the society which welcomes them as well as the environment. In particular, Trentino is a region known for wild nature, protected parks and the Dolomites, a UNESCO natural heritage. In recent year, the uniqueness of these places has been threatened by the increasing numbers of visitors and the numerous activities and services offered to them, not always in the respect of the fragility of the environment. Moreover, it is growing amongst residents and mountains lovers, the need for stricter rules for the spoiling of the medium and high mountains. Sustainability -in three different fields: environmental, social, and economic- is the key to future design and it should particularly involve tourism, as a very impacting sector in many ways. Indeed, it is necessary to anticipate the inevitable loss of biodiversity and further exploitation of resources to preserve the environment and the peculiarity of tradition and communities. At the same time, a strong chance of approach in a touristic offer and how tourism is perceived is the route to keep this sector functioning instead of depriving it of its treasures and attractions. Co-design sessions with different categories of users and experts helped to identify a solution for the development of a network of people interested in the topic. E.STO is a platform where tourists, tourism operators and residents can find an innovative and inspiring space for a sustainable approach to holidays. Tourism operators have the opportunity to co-create new services and stay informed about sustainability issues. Tourist, on the other hand, can consult and book their holidays according to their desire to reduce the impact on the environment and the territory.
Il seguente progetto ha lo scopo di promuovere una nuova forma di turismo sostenibile in Trentino. Il turismo è la più grande industria mondiale che occupa diverse figure professionali e vari settori lavorativi, e l’Italia rappresenta una destinazione conosciuta al mondo. È importante notare che i flussi turistici non hanno un impatto esclusivamente economico ma hanno una ricaduta soprattutto sulla società e l’ambiente in cui si sviluppano. Nello specifico, il Trentino è una regione apprezzata per la natura incontaminata, i parchi protetti e le Dolomiti, patrimonio naturale dell’UNESCO. Negli ultimi anni, la particolarità di questi territori è stata minacciata dall’aumento di visitatori e di conseguenza delle attività e servizi offerti che non sempre rispettano la fragilità dell’ecosistema montano. Inoltre, è sempre più crescente il bisogno per residenti e amanti della montagna di regole stringenti per la protezione della media e alta montagna. La sostenibilità, nelle sue tre diverse declinazioni -ambiente, società ed economia- è la chiave per progettare soluzioni future e nuovi servizi, e dovrebbe essere particolarmente tenuta in considerazione in ambito del turismo, in quanto settore ampiamente impattante sotto vari aspetti. È necessario anticipare l’inevitabile perdita della biodiversità e il maggiore sfruttamento delle risorse per preservare l’ambiente e le tradizioni caratteristiche delle comunità locali. Contemporaneamente, un cambiamento rispetto alla qualità e ai valori dell’offerta è la strada per indirizzare l’industria turistica ad un nuovo approccio che la faccia evolvere in maniera propositiva invece che deprivarla dei suoi tesori e delle sue attrazioni. A seguito di sessioni di co-design con diverse categorie di utenti ed esperti è stato possibile individuare una soluzione per lo sviluppo di una rete di persone interessate al tema. E.STO è una piattaforma nella quale turisti, operatori turistici e residenti trovano uno spazio innovativo e vivace per avvicinarsi ad uno stile di vacanza sostenibile. Gli operatori turistici hanno la possibilità di co-creare nuovi servizi e rimanere informati riguardo ad aspetti relativi alla sostenibilità. I turisti invece possono consultare e prenotare le proprie vacanze assecondando il desiderio di ridurre l’impatto sull’ambiente e sul territorio.
