The commitment and openness of the Universities towards the outside materializes in the development of the Third Mission, complementary to the two primary Missions of Education and Research. In particular, among the activities of the Third Mission, this work will focus on Public Engagement initiatives which preserve the educational, cultural and social value of Universities and are intended for a non-academic audience. Since their emergence on the institutional and national debate, these initiatives are difficult to identify within specific boundaries and often they have difficulty in lasting and measuring specific impacts. In this context, the Network of Universities and Research Institutes for Public Engagement, APEnet, was created in 2018 to institutionalize these issues, provide a common and national background on definitions and to be the univocal point of contact with government bodies for the research quality assessment (VQR). The purpose of this work is to support the work of APEnet with the help of Service Designers, interested in working in the field of training and education. As a result, this research proposes an integration to the existing APEnet online platform and an expansion of the services offered, exemplified by a toolbox, consisting of a collection of tools and methodologies that can be used online and offline by users, correlated with a consulting and training service for Universities by the APEnet new-formed and interdisciplinary team.
L'impegno e l'apertura delle Università verso l'esterno della propria istituzione si concretizza nello sviluppo della Terza Missione, complementare alle due Missioni primarie di istruzione e ricerca. In particolare, tra le attività della Terza Missione, questo lavoro si concentrerà sull’analisi delle iniziative di Public Engagement, le quali preservano il valore educativo, culturale e sociale degli Atenei e sono destinate ad un pubblico non accademico. Fin dalla loro apparizione nel dibattito istituzionale e nazionale, queste iniziative sono state difficili da identificare all'interno di confini specifici, spesso non durano nel tempo e generano impatti difficilmente visibili e misurabili. In questo contesto, nel 2018 è stata creata la Rete degli Atenei e degli Istituti di Ricerca per il Public Engagement, APEnet, con l’obiettivo di istituzionalizzare questi temi, fornire un background comune e nazionale sulle sue definizioni, ed essere il punto di contatto univoco con gli Enti Governativi per la valutazione della qualità della ricerca (VQR). Lo scopo di questo lavoro è supportare il lavoro di APEnet con l'aiuto di Service Designers, interessati a lavorare nel campo della formazione e dell'istruzione. Dunque, questa ricerca propone un'integrazione alla piattaforma online APEnet esistente e un ampliamento dell’offerta di servizi, esemplificato da un Toolbox, costituito da una raccolta di strumenti e metodologie, usufruibili online e offline dagli utenti, correlati a una consulenza formativa da parte da un team di esperti caratterizzato dall’interdisciplinarietà di APEnet.
