This thesis investigates a representative sample of image stock websites in order to verify the presence of gender biases in the representation of occupations. The aim of the research is to stimulate a critical consideration on the use of archives in visual design and on the ethicality of the models they propose. The results highlight how important is for designers to become more aware of the social impact of their work.
Il presente lavoro di tesi si propone di indagare le modalità di rappresentazione del maschile e del femminile nel mondo professionale attraverso l'analisi dei contenuti proposti dagli archivi digitali di immagini. L’obiettivo della ricerca è quello di stimolare una riflessione critica sull’uso archivi nella progettazione visuale e sulla eticità dei modelli che propongono, mettendo in evidenza l'importanza dell’impatto della comunicazione visiva sulla società e le responsabilità che ne derivano per i progettisti.
