Abstract
Following the earthquake that occurred in the center of Italy in August 2016, there have been many responses, towards the affected municipalities, of cataloguing and immediate rebuilding finalized to overcome the emergency. What happens when we are left in the limbo of a landscape of ruins and, almost literal, lack of recognition of our places? Non-emergency rebuilding takes charge of a list of problems and opportunities deriving from the peculiar situation of restoring and giving a new life to a void that’s not really a void: in the case of Amatrice, the desolation of signs left from the very few elements spared by the seismic event that still, virtually, can recall a well-estabilished path full of urban life; in Camerino, the oxymoron of seeing, in the very heart of the city center, lots of buildings technica¬¬¬lly intact, but inaccessible and unrecoverable by now, and the necessity to move many institutions out of it without knowing if and when they can come back again. Although in matters of technical and technological prevention we have a fairly amount of, more or less, advanced possibilities, contemporary architecture considers now the issue of influencing in a positive way the quality of living in a certain place, community’s life in particular. Camerino, a very prolific cultural town, it’s a quite unique locus, recognizable for its historical-geographical layers and for its original urban implant, well-integrated with the most recent urban structure: these are the main points on which the design exercise proposed in this composition is based. The main purpose of designing a new location intra moenia for Valentiniana library collection, brought to a sort of cultural campus for the community that aims to be the “door” to a new chapter for the city.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
