The GENI-Ant(TM) is an autonomous mobile robot developed by the FIVES Intralogistics S.p.A to work as a highly flexible sorter technology. In the intralogistics industry, having higher speed and accuracy is always an advantage. In a sorter based on mobile robots, the first requirement to achieve this goal is precise localization. In this thesis, we study and analyze the GENI-Ant(TM) robot's localization software and propose two distinct methods to improve its accuracy and robustness. First, we expand the current localization filter of the robot to use all the available sensor information. Then we add a low-cost MEMS gyroscope to the robot and use it alongside the wheel encoders to improve the odometry estimation. After implementing these modifications and performing practical experiments, we show that each modification has its advantages and the new localization software is more robust and accurate.

Abstract
After implementing these modifications and performing practical experiments, we show that each modification has its advantages and the new localization software is more robust and accurate.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
