Earthquakes can be regarded as one of the main natural causes of devastation; although unforeseeable, their effects can be partly mitigated by implementing all the due protections. Along the years many different control methods have been developed, ranging between active, passive or semi-active; some have already been implemented in real life, whereas others are feasible only in theory. Among the latters, we can find the Active Mass Dampers. These devices have a better performance compared to the traditional Tuned Mass Damper, but their complexity results in low implementation. In the described context, this thesis analyses an active control system, namely I-Pro 1, developed by Isaac s.r.l., an innovative startup which aims to improve seismic protection of civil buildings. The final goal is to validate, through Hardware-In-the-Loop, the effectiveness and robustness of the controller. For this purpose, we designed a vibrating table, upon which the device is placed, and we developed a non linear model of a real life building. Thus, we were able to study the behavior of I-Pro 1 in different operating scenarios.

Abstract
Thus, we were able to study the behavior of I-Pro 1 in different operating scenarios.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
