We are in the digital age, in which digitisation is an essential part of the way we live, work, and conduct businesses. The development of increasingly connected technologies has led to a revolution in the classic economic approach to consumption. This new process has driven to the payment systems' evolution, depending on the capacity of the revolutionary change in which we are immersed. The growing importance of technology in modern society is conceiving a rapid development in the consumer sector, making us face the diversity and dynamism that this environment is also bringing up to payment methods. With this in mind, consumers are under a technological influence defined by digital payment methods, by submitting them to a behavioural impact of the socio-economic dynamics to which we are unwittingly subjected. To sum up, technological progress is playing a crucial role in both the payment methods’ evolution and the consumer’s behavioural change by drastically reconsidering the way goods and services are consumed in several countries. The thesis, therefore, aims to investigate the development of new payment dynamics through quantitative data research, examining the expansion of technologies that have affected digital payment systems and are contributing to the impact in society and, in particular, on the consumer, while addressing the environment achieved in their expansion. First of all, it develops with a review of the evolution of payment processes and the rise of new technologies, both in the international field in contrast with the current status and related policies. An afterward survey focuses on the analysis of present payment systems' use, comparing different European countries and China, a country with an emerging and digital economy increasingly at the forefront; the Mobile Payment system is treated more specifically, a system that has seen exponential growth in recent years. Later on, the rest of the thesis focuses on analysing consumer behaviour under the influence of Digital Payments, extrapolating qualitative data on consumers' motivations and awareness of today's payment methods and systems. Then, the whole will be extrapolated through a comparative survey between the two types of data, to obtain a correlation or not with the hypotheses in possession made by the individual types of data. A fifth cluster has been added as an enlightening reflection on prospects of payment systems focusing on technological evolution and the challenges of a cashless society perspective in an international context. Even if the exploration of the topic and the data gathered may be complex and dispersive, to facilitate the understanding of this multitude of analyses, it is good to complete the analysis of this thesis with the visualisation project related to it. Through the visualisations, the final aim of this thesis is to analyse and systematise the hybrid work that combines the research, data collection and information component of Digital Payments, defining a visual digital framework for Communication Designers that want to deepen the knowledge on this topic.

Abstract
Through the visualisations, the final aim of this thesis is to analyse and systematise the hybrid work that combines the research, data collection and information component of Digital Payments, defining a visual digital framework for Communication Designers that want to deepen the knowledge on this topic.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
