The period of health crisis following the Covid 19 pandemic that began in 2020 offers an opportunity for reflection: to what extent do the digital representations that are distributed on social networks influence and condition the perception of reality? The research moves from the definition of the phenomenon of memes since the origins of the term through the subsequent evolutions that took place following the digital revolution, which made them the undisputed protagonists of the web, up to the period of health emergency that creates the perfect context. for their dissemination. Through the collection and cataloging of memes released in 2020, combined with in-depth research on the events that triggered the production of these contents, we arrive at the definition of a known and shared scenario, made up of modified and remixed images. In fact, digital manipulation becomes an escape tool from reality that leads to the emergence of a new collective imagination of which memes are the fulcrum. We therefore come to experience not only the infection of the pandemic, but also the contagion of ideas, information and emotions that occurs through memes, which, just like a virus, pass from person to person through electronic devices. In order to monitor the change in the relationship with social networks and the new meanings assumed by viral contents, surveys and interviews with privileged witnesses were conducted to obtain significant data on the meme phenomenon in 2020. The final restitution of the research is a video, which acts as a tool that proposes a critical point of view on this phenomenon and which wants to stimulate a sort of immune response to meme infection.

Abstract
The final restitution of the research is a video, which acts as a tool that proposes a critical point of view on this phenomenon and which wants to stimulate a sort of immune response to meme infection.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
