Stack. Contemporary work-life housing in seaside Momochi Fukuoka

Fukuoka City is a central of activity in Kyushu, it is one of cities in Japan with progressive attitude towards the issue of productivity, sustainability, mobility, and smart city. With a high proportion of young people and high rate of start-up business initiative, the city has a contemporary, globalised way of life, in line with the location’s characteristic as a gateway to other Asian countries. One of the potentially attractive area in Fukuoka City is Seaside Momochi, a reclaimed land with high concentration of urban facilities for life, work, and leisure. Momochi was conceived as representation of the future seen by the generation of 1970s, which could be re-imagined and updated to envision the future of this generation. The intervention will be focused on the site of Residential Suites Fukuoka in Seaside Momochi, which currently used as habitation area for newcomers to Fukuoka and locals alike. The aim of the project is to envision an environment for living and working, while also enhancing the surrounding area through architecture and public space interventions. With the focus on the shifting paradigm of working and living, leaning towards efficiency, mobility, and connectivity. The project answers these concerns through the concept of flexibility. A new living environment is conceived as a flexible housing with the use of modules, allowing change and growth to the building system, while also applying the principles of locality, in this case the Japanese dwellings and natural environment. Resulting in an experimental contemporary housing in Seaside Momochi.

La citta di Fukuoka, un centro di attivita nel Kyushu, é una citta Giapponese con progressivita sotto l’aspetto della produttivita, sostenibilita, mobilita e smart city. Con alta percentuale di giovani sulla popolazione, e alta quantita di aziendali start-up, la citta ha uno contemporaneo stile di vita, che corrisponde alla caratteristica della citta come porta d’Asia. Una regione potenzialmente della citta é Seaside Momochi, una terra bonificata con alta concentrazione di strutture urbane per il lavoro, la vita e il tempo libero. Momochi nasce come rappressentazione del futuro negli anni ’70, l’area potrebbe essere reimmaginata e aggiornata secondo la visione del futuro di questa generazione. L’intervento sara focalizzato sul sito di Residential Suites Fukuoka in Seaside Momochi, che utilizzato come area di abitazione per i nuovi immigrati e per i cittadini locali. Il Progetto prevede un novo ambiente per vivere e lavorare nell’era digitale, che valorizza anche i dintorni attraverso l’architettura e lo spazio pubblico. Il focus é il nuovo paradigma di lavoro e di vita, con tendenza all’efficienza, mobilita, e connettivita. É concepito come un'abitazione flessibile con moduli, permettendo la crescita e il cambiamento dell’edificio. Il progretto anche applica i principi locali, come le abitazioni e i paessagi Giapponesi. Risultante in un’abitazione contemporanea e sperimentale in Seaside Momochi.
