Visitare un bene culturale a distanza. Tour virtuale del complesso monumentale di Laorca (LC)

The spread of the pandemic has brought with it many upheavals within our lives and social dynamics, this has forced people to seek a new balance within their daily lives. If before it was allowed to move freely even to reach places of cultural interest, now this is not possible. To compensate for this social and cultural block and to "escape", at least mentally, from the static and oppressive reality that surrounds us, in recent months one of the activities allowed has been to visit cultural places at a distance. In fact, one of the consequences of this pandemic situation we are experiencing has been the increase in the use and dissemination of virtual tours and other ways of remote access to cultural sites in order to promote new visiting experiences. In this way it is "the cultural sphere" that approaches people and not vice versa, as it has always been until now. The thesis explores the potential and possibilities of a virtual visit to an environment starting from the analysis of ten examples of experiences of visiting -virtual- of cultural and natural places, and more generally, of other current uses that allow Virtual Reality at the service of documentation of the historical, architectural and cultural heritage. What was learned from the studies of the available technology and from the examples analyzed, was used for the planning and realization of the virtual tour of the monumental complex of Laorca (LC).

Il diffondersi della pandemia ha portato con sé tantissimi stravolgimenti all’interno delle nostre vite e dinamiche sociali, questo ha costretto le persone a ricercare un nuovo equilibrio dentro la propria quotidianità. Se prima era consentito spostarsi liberamente anche per raggiungere i luoghi di interesse culturale, ora tutto ciò non è possibile. Per sopperire a questo blocco sociale e culturale e per “evadere”, almeno mentalmente, dalla realtà statica ed opprimente che ci circonda, negli ultimi mesi una delle attività consentite è stata visitare luoghi culturali a distanza. Infatti, una delle conseguenze di questa situazione pandemica che stiamo vivendo, è stato l’incremento nell’uso e diffusione di tour virtuali e altre modalità di accesso remoto ai siti culturali al fine di promuovere nuove esperienze di visita. In questo modo è “l’ambito culturale” che si avvicina alle persone e non viceversa, com’è sempre stato finora. La tesi esplora le potenzialità e possibilità di visita virtuale di un ambiente partendo dall’analisi di dieci esempi di esperienze di visita -virtuale- di luoghi culturali e naturali, e più in generale, di altri impieghi attuali che consente la Realtà Virtuale a servizio della documentazione del patrimonio storico, architettonico e culturale. Quanto appreso dagli studi della tecnologia disponibile e dagli esempi analizzati, è servito per la progettazione e realizzazione della visita virtuale del Complesso monumentale di Laorca (LC).
