Study of the fracture propagation in cortical bone through an innovative computational method. The method is called phase field, its innovative aspect with respect to the traditional ones described in literature is to consider the crack as a diffuse dicontinuity and not a discrete one. This thesis compare the results obtained with this method with the ones obtained with one of the traditional methods that is more used in literature, then the analyses focuses on a parametrical study of the energy release rate.
Studio della propagazione della frattura nell’osso corticale attraverso un metodo computazionale innovativo. Il metodo è chiamato phase field, la sua caratteristica innovativa rispetto ai metodi tradizionalmente utilizzati a questo scopo consiste nel considerare la frattura come una discontinuità diffusa e non discreta. Questa tesi confronta i risultati ottenuti col nuovo metodo con quelli ottenuti con uno dei metodi tradizionali più usati, per poi concentrarsi in un’analisi parametrica del rilascio di energia.
