Molteplici combinazioni. Ricomposizioni future per le colline della provincia di Varese

Abstract The area of Varese and its surroundings, despite its great potential, tends to be subject to a series of problems related to the quality of urban and productive settlements and their connections. Starting from the analysis of the territory, three different ecologies have been identified that characterize the landscape, that is the road network, the production spaces and the agroforestry system. Looking to the future these elements have been constructed six scenarios, which aim to propose a series of possible futures, taking into account their real feasibility and time factor, assuming that these interventions can be fragmented and expanded over the years depending on the different needs.The aim of this thesis is to propose a flexible and changeable model, through the combination of several scenarios that from time to time give the possibility to build different strategies. The research recomposes six scenarios in two possible strategies, not the only ones. The first, called "productive archipelago", aims to implement the connections between companies that face the road, proposing a series of equipment and services, related to trade and leisure. At the same time, new places dedicated to the community are created within the production spaces, which carry forward the concept implemented on the road.In this way new dynamic polarities are created, in which it is possible to integrate work and everyday life. With large areas of woodland available, the idea is to generate energy by exploiting waste materials, but also those produced by new biomass plantings. The second strategy, on the other hand, the so-called "sustainable island", provides for the integration between the road and the adjacent forest component, through the transformation of it into a new park road, from which start a series of paths within nature.Being a place strongly linked to production, is proposed a recycling system that sees the protagonists of the various companies, which undertake to dispose of their waste materials for processing, in view of a new use. The model outlines only two of the many combinations of scenarios, proposing a dynamic and flexible working method, based on the continuous change of today’s needs.

Abstract L’area di Varese e dintorni, ad oggi, nonostante le grandi potenzialità che presenta, tende ad essere soggetta ad una serie di problematiche legate alla qualità degli insediamenti urbani e produttivi e delle loro connessioni. Partendo dall’analisi del territorio, sono stati individuate tre diverse ecologie che caratterizzano il paesaggio, ovvero la rete stradale, gli spazi della produzione e il sistema agroforestale. Proiettando al futuro questi elementi sono stati costruiti sei scenari, che mirano a proporre una serie di possibili futuri, tenendo conto della loro reale fattibilità e del fattore tempo, presupponendo cioè che questi interventi possano essere frammentati e dilatati negli anni a seconda delle diverse neces- sità. L’obiettivo di questa tesi è quello di proporre un modello flessi- bile e mutevole, attraverso la combinazione di più scenari che di volta in volta danno la possibilità di costruire strategie diverse. La ricerca ricompone sei scenari in due possibili strategie, non le uniche possibili. La prima, denominata “arcipelago produttivo”, mira a implementare le connessioni tra le aziende che si affacciano sulla strada, proponendo una serie di attrezzature e servizi, legati al commercio e al tempo libero. Parallelamente all’interno degli spazi produttivi si ricavano nuovi luoghi dedicati alla collettività, che portano avanti il concetto attuato sulla strada. In questo modo si creano nuove polarità dinamiche, in cui è possibile integrare lavoro e quotidianità. Avendo inoltre a disposizione grandi spazi boschivi, l’idea è quella di generare energia sfruttando i materiali di scarto, ma anche quelli prodotti dalle nuove piantumazioni adibite a biomassa. La seconda strategia invece, la cosiddetta “isola sostenibile”, prevede l’integrazione tra la strada e la componente boschiva limitrofa, attra- verso la trasformazione di essa in una nuova strada parco, dalla quale partono una serie di percorsi all’interno della natura. Trattandosi di un luogo fortemente legato alla produzione, viene proposto un sistema di riciclo che vede protagoniste le varie aziende, le quali si impegnano a smaltire i propri materiali di scarto della lavorazione, in vista di un nuovo utilizzo. Il modello va a delineare solo due delle molteplici combinazioni tra scenari, andando a proporre un metodo di lavoro dinamico e flessibile, improntato sul continuo mutare delle necessità di oggi.
