This theses research aims to bring to light the strong link between mathematics and architecture and in particular the relationship with the majestic architecture of the Palazzo Ducale di Mantova. In order to fully understand how mathematical rules are related to the Palazzo Ducale, it was first necessary to understand the historical link between mathematics and the arts, and to do this, six mathematical and geometric themes were chosen, in order to understand how artists, musicians, and architects of all times are related to it. The preliminary research phase showed that even the arts and works that seem to be the furthest from mathematics are also influenced by it. This new awareness has therefore allowed us to have a more careful and aware look at the environments and architecture of the Palazzo Ducale. The project, therefore, brings a new point of view on the famous architectural complex, interacting with it on different levels: the museum project and architectural projects. The museum project consists of two main elements, which interact differently with the context. The installations represent the first moment of interaction between the visitor and the exhibition, and they are inserted along the existing path of the Palazzo Ducale, in order to introduce the theme of mathematics in relation to the spaces of the Palace. The second moment is instead that of the exhibition inside the Salone dell’Armeria, within which the visitor will be guided in the understanding of the mathematical themes presented along the path. The architectural project aims to make the complex of Palazzo Ducale more accessible and to intervene as little as possible on the historical structure. There are therefore three main elements that compose it: the structural intervention in the Salone dell’Armeria, the cover of the Courtyard of the Scalone delle Duchesse, and the new elevator in Piazza Lega Lombarda. The architectural project develops in line with the theoretical and exhibition research, and therefore uses a language that makes clear its link with the mathematical study that generated it.

Abstract
The architectural project develops in line with the theoretical and exhibition research, and therefore uses a language that makes clear its link with the mathematical study that generated it.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
