Design, politics and nature : a metaproject for catalysing ecocentric futures

This research aims at the theoretical explorations of the relation between design, politics and Nature, expanding the traditional conceptions of sustainability. It consists in a study of why and how politics and Nature are historically and contemporarily connected and what design can do inside this nexus if it aims at being a restaurative and positive activity in this nexus. As an application of the theoretical discussion, the Catalysing Ecocentric Futures Framework was designed as an exercise and starting point for further inquiries on the application of design as an enabler of innovative, systemic and inclusive ecocentric politics of Nature.

Questa ricerca mira all'esplorazione teorica del rapporto tra design, politica e Natura, ampliando le concezioni tradizionali di sostenibilità. Lo studio consiste sul perché e sul come la politica e la natura siano storicamente e contemporaneamente connesse e cosa può fare il design all'interno di questo nexus se vuole essere un'attività ristoratrice e positiva. Come applicazione della discussione teorica, il Catalysing Ecocentric Futures Framework è stato progettato come esercizio e punto di partenza per ulteriori indagini sull'applicazione del design come abilitatore di politiche ecocentriche, inclusive, innovative e sistemiche.
