In the last years more and more road accidents are induced by the wind action and this phenomenon affects especially high sided vehicles such as trucks or vans that exhibit a big lateral surface. A lot of studies were performed in the previous years and pointed out that for certain wind speeds the rollover occurs indipendently from the driver action or from the vehicle speed due to the strong forces generated. This conclusion points out the need of a further investigation of this problem but with the introducion of windbreak fences in order to understand if the installetion of these barriers can be helpuful in preventing those type of acccidents. What is still missing is a coupling of the aerodynamic and dynamic word and the aim of this thesis work is to have a direct connection between these two words in order to study a large variety of scenarios in terms of wind actions and dynamic events in order to assess the efficiency of the windbreak fences against vehicle rollover.
Negli ultimi anni sempre più incidenti stradali sono causati dall'azione del vento and questo fenomeno interessa specialmente i veicoli alti come i camion e i furgoni poichè presentano un'ampia area laterale . Molti studi sono stati fatti negli anni passati e da essi si evince come per certe velocità del vento il cappottamento avviene indipendentemente dall'azione del pilota o dalla velocità del veicolo a causa delle forze generate. Questa conclusione rende necessaria una più ampia investigazione di questo problema con l'introduzione delle barriere anti vento per capire se l'installazione di tali barriere può essere utile nel prevenire questi incidenti. Cosa ancora manca è un accoppiamento del mondo aerodinamico e di quello dinamico e l'obiettivo di questa tesi è proprio quello di avere una connessione diretta tra questi due mondi per poter studiare un'ampia varietà di scenari in termini di vento e eventi dinamici per poter verificare l'efficienza delle barriere anti vento contro il ribaltamento dei veicoli.
