Vitrum. Ripercorrendo la storia lasciando un segno

Through this thesis project I wanted to investigate, discover, analyse and compare examples of the history of the island of Murano, focusing on the context of its primary resource: glass. I also wanted to focus on the phases of processing and design of a vase that I designed, which will see the use of traditional or innovative techniques, as well as the thought of a space where it can be exhibited, and the narrative power that this will have as a result of the particular historical moment that we are living. Telling a story and leaving a mark through design. I will therefore analyse the process of working with glass, its techniques, the methods used and the great names that have passed through the furnaces. By immersing myself, comparing and collecting important notions. With this thesis I would also like to talk about sharing and thoughtful action, focusing on the different realities present on the island of Murano and beyond. I hope and believe in a new rebirth of the island, which involves innovation and improvement of this City. Thanks to the voice of new designers and realities that are contaminated with a new vision of change between the experimental and the traditional, thus allowing the city to regain its former glory, and to propose itself once again as a current and multi-purpose fulcrum in the world context of glass processing.

Attraverso questo progetto di tesi ho voluto quindi indagare, scoprire, analizzare e mettere a confronto esempi della storia dell’isola di Murano, focalizzandomi sul contesto della sua primaria risorsa: il vetro. Ho voluto inoltre porre l’attenzione sulle fasi di lavorazione e progettazione di un vaso da me ideato, che vedrà l’uso di tecniche tradizionali o innovative, oltre al pensiero di uno spazio dove poterlo esporre, e della forza narrativa che questo avrà in quanto frutto del particolare momento storico che stiamo vivendo. Raccontare e lasciare un segno attraverso il design. Analizzerò quindi il processo della lavorazione del vetro, le sue tecniche, i modi di fare e i grandi nomi che sono passati tra le fornaci. Immergendomi, confrontando e raccogliendo importanti nozioni. Con questo elaborato di tesi vorrei parlare inoltre di condivisone e ponderato agire ponendo l’attenzione sulle diverse realtà presenti nell’isola di Murano e al di fuori. Spero e credo in una nuova rinascita dell’isola, che comporta l’innovazione e il miglioramento di questa Città. Grazie alla voce di nuovi designer e realtà che si contaminino con una nuova visione di cambiamento tra quella sperimentale e tradizionale, permettendo così alla città di riacquisire la sua antica gloria, e di proporsi nuovamente come fulcro attuale e polivalente nel contesto mondiale della lavorazione del vetro.
