The role of maps in supporting emergency management analyzed through four test cases

In this work, the relevance of maps in emergency management, for different types of events has been considered. The most relevant maps have been defined as essential. In this way, in case of the occurrence of a similar event, if it is known which are the most relevant maps, they can be produced with higher priority. All other maps are considered as optional maps, which are related to the presence of the specific assets in the area of interest. Checking through test cases in four events of flood bathtub effect, snowstorm lake effect, earthquake, avalanche, we want to see which maps have been produced, which map should have been produced and how useful every map could be for the different phases of the emergency. We have also considered the time required to process the maps, the time required to acquire the necessary data to obtain the maps, how the maps are created, and how complex is this production.

In questo lavoro è stata considerata la rilevanza delle mappe nella gestione delle emergenze, per diversi tipi di eventi. Le mappe più rilevanti sono state definite come essenziali. In questo modo, al verificarsi di un evento simile, se si sa quali sono le mappe più rilevanti e possono essere prodotte con priorità maggiore. Tutte le altre mappe sono considerate come facoltative, e sono legate alla presenza dei beni specifici nell'area di interesse. Sono stati considerati quattro casi di studio di allagamento con effetto vasca, tempesta di neve con effetto lago, terremoto e valanga, con lo scopo di verificare quali mappe sono state prodotte, quali avrebbero dovuto essere prodotte e quanto ogni mappa può essere utile per le diverse fasi dell'emergenza . Abbiamo anche considerato il tempo necessario per elaborare le mappe, il tempo necessario per acquisire i dati necessari per ottenere le mappe, come vengono create le mappe e quanto è complessa la produzione.
