Abstract
Teaching and learning environments are changing shape. In some cases, they seem to be carving out new kinds of spaces whose complexity of use (both as an academic facility and a new center of reference for the community) requires profound typological research. Within an overall vision and an “Idea of Architecture,” new conceptions of urban campus can rise and generate those innovative, less “academic” spaces on which the contemporary transformations of university campus models and building types are focusing. The thesis research focuses on the spatial, functional, and infrastructural relationships between campus and context between the new Life Science Campus and Basel contemporary dynamics of transformation to provide those innovative spaces. The design of the architectural project results from an investigation of both architectural and compositional design issues and those relating to structural, technical, functional, and linguistic aspects, as well as conditions of environmental sustainability at architectural and urban scales.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
