The application of circular economy practices in all sorts of processes is a matter that has been receiving increasing attention over the years. One of the well-known applications of those practices is in the collection and recycling of wasted oil used by industrial machines. The focus of this study is to apply the concepts of the Vehicle Routing Problem to a real case of wasted oil collection in Brazil and develop a mathematical model to represent it. The Vehicle Routing Problem, due to its complexity and flexibility, is an area of Operations Research that has been of interest for academics and practitioners for over 50 years. The present report performs a literature review on some variants of the problem. Then, a more detailed explanation of the wasted oil collection process and its context is presented, comparing it to other cases of reverse logistics and circular economy. Then, the Site Dependent Vehicle Routing Problem with Heterogeneous Fleet and Time Windows model for the case of wasted oil collection is presented and discussed. It is the first step for a work in progress which will be further developed by the author. The next stages of the study will include a more complex model and tests and results for the application in Brazil.

Abstract
The next stages of the study will include a more complex model and tests and results for the application in Brazil.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
