Identità movimento costruzione. Un nuovo polo urbano culturale e commerciale al Corno D'oro nell'area di Perşembe Pazarı, Istanbul, Turchia

SUMMARY Perşembe Pazarı is a coastal area on the Beyoğlu side of Istanbul, from Azapkapı to Karaköy Square, where various commercial activities are mainly located such as fish market, hardware stores and fish restaurants. In order to revive the historical and cultural texture of the area and dissolve the nodal points by spreading the intensity of existing commercial functions, the aim of the project proposed within the scope of the thesis is to transform this coastline, which is a part of the Golden Horn, into a region where various cultural and commercial activities take place during day and night. The area is located in the northern part of the Historical peninsula and the Golden Horn, between the Unkapanı and Galata Bridge and bordered by the Tersane street, which runs parallel to the sea. Because of its location in the center of the developing coastline on the east-west axis, Perşembe Pazarı has a heavy pedestrian flow, by varius connections of public transportation, from the north to the Galata-Taksim Square axis, İn the south to the historical peninsula. The area intervened is an area where is attractive by many aspects such as its being multi-layered in either cultural or historical elements. Thus, it is an area where takes interests of everyone. Within this context, the current secluded and chaotic situation of the area has been stimulation in the selection of the area as a thesis topic. Interventions of these kind of areas where have suffered many destructions and are in danger of losing their historical and cultural values lead to debates on how to deal with. Although, it is not possible to restore the various architectural aspects where the area once had with the same richness, in case of interventions, it is necessary to interpretate a strong connection of spatial datas between current situation of areas where will be revitiliate and their past. Thus, an intervention with historical and cultural characteristics will make people more sensitive to the environment and provide them a safer environment. As a part of the proposal, Persembe pazari is divided into two parts that are parallel to the coast line. An urban green park has been created by opening the coastside for pedestrian use as part of the developing coastal axis on east-west directions. On waterfront area, some traces are created by interpretation of historical maps. These traces used in order to open the area into sea. On the other hand, taking in consideration of historical Galata Walls traces, the built part is extended along the Tersane street to azapkapı,by having various commercial and cultural functions. Between the separated green axis and the built axis, a city amphitheater was created with various public activity areas. While the built environment was being designed, the spatial organizations were shaped by taking in consideration the remains of the city walls and the azapkapı saliha sultan fountain. In order to increase the monumental values of the Yahya Ağa Fountain and the Yunus Dede Tomb, which are in idle state, and to attract the attention of those around, seating areas have been created around them and covered with a cover. Yelkenci Khan front is pedestrianised. Considering the heights of the Golden Horn Metro Bridge and of the historical ruins, an upper level connection element was designed to establish a connection between the proposed structures and the ground. Subsequently, the connecting element is terminated with a city amphitheater towards Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Cami. In another intervention, in order to open the east entrance of the perşembe pazarı , the fish market located at the exit of the ferry pier, the food- beverage places in its vicinity and the electric transformer was removed within the scope of the proposal and a square is wanted to be created. The removed fish market has been moved to the ground floor commercial sections of the propoed area. It is aimed to create public spaces that will make the secluded coastline work day and night by providing continuity with an urban green park on the Golden Horn and Bosphorus coastline, which has been renewed with cultural and commercial centers. In addition, it was aimed to enrich the historical commercial and cultural context of the Persembe Pazari, and to host various public events with short-term accommodation facilities and exhibition areas. As a result, the chaotic situation caused by undefined and unplanned development has been attempted to be resolved.

SUMMARIO Perşembe Pazarı è una zona costiera sul lato Beyoğlu di Istanbul, da Azapkapı a Piazza Karaköy, dove si trovano principalmente varie attività commerciali come mercato del pesce, negozi di ferramenta e ristoranti di pesce. Al fine di rilanciare il tessuto storico e culturale dell’area e dissolverne i punti nodali diffondendo l’intensità delle funzioni commerciali esistenti, l’obiettivo del progetto proposto nell’ambito della tesi è quello di trasformare questo litorale, che fa parte del Corno d’Oro, in una regione dove si svolgono diverse attività culturali e commerciali durante il giorno e la notte. L’area si trova nella parte settentrionale della penisola storica e del Corno d’Oro, tra l’Unkapanı e il ponte di Galata e confina con la strada Tersane che corre parallella al mare. A causa della sua posizione al centro della costa in via di sviluppo sull’asse est-ovest. Perşembe Pazarı ha un flusso pedonale pesante, da vari collegamenti di trasporto pubblico, da nord all’asse Galata-Piazza Taksim,a sud alla penisola storica. L’area d’intervento è una zona dove è attraente per molti aspetti, come il suo essere multistrato in elementi culturali o storici. Quindi, è un luogo ideale per tutti che amano il contatto con la natura, così come attività ricreativa, così, in cui prende gli interessi di tutti. In questo contesto, l’attuale situazione isolata e caotica dell’area è stata uno stimolo nella selezione dell’area come argomento di tesi. Interventi di questo tipo di aree che hanno subito molte distruzioni e rischiano di perdere i loro valori storici e culturali portano a dibattiti su come affrontarli. Anche se non è possibile ripristinare i vari aspetti architettonici con la stessa ricchezza in cui l’area un tempo aveva, in caso di interventi, è necessario interpretare una forte connessione di dati spaziali tra la situazione attuale delle aree in cui saranno rivitalizzati e il loro passato. Pertanto, un intervento con caratteristiche storiche e culturali renderà le persone più sensibili all’ambiente e fornirà loro un ambiente più sicuro. Come parte della proposta, Persembe pazari è divisa in due parti parallele alla linea di costa. Un parco verde urbano è stato creato aprendo la costa per uso pedonale come parte dell’asse costiero in via di sviluppo in direzione est-ovest. Sul lungomare, alcune tracce sono create dall’interpretazione di mappe storiche. Queste tracce utilizzate per aprire la zona verso il mare. D’altra parte, prendendo in considerazione le tracce storiche delle Mura di Galata, la parte edificata si estende lungo la via Tersane fino ad azapkapı, avendo varie funzioni commerciali e culturali. Tra l’asse verde separato e l’asse costruito, viene creato un anfiteatro urbano con varie aree di attività pubbliche. Mentre l’ambiente costruito era in fase di progettazione, le organizzazioni spaziali sono modellate prendendo in considerazione le rovine delle mura della città e la fontana azapkapı Saliha Sultana. Al fine di aumentare i valori monumentali della Fontana di Yahya Ağa e della Tomba di Yunus Dede, che sono in stato di inattività, e per attirare l’attenzione di chi la circonda, sono state create aree a sedere intorno a loro e coperte da una copertura. Il fronte di caravanserraglio Yelkenci è pedonale. Tenendo in considerazione le altezze del Ponte della Metropolitana del Corno d’Oro e delle rovine storiche, un elemento di collegamento al livello superiore è stato progettato per costruire un collegamento tra le strutture proposte e il piano terra. Successivamente, l’elemento di collegamento è terminato con un anfiteatro urbano verso Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Cami. In un altro intervento, al fine di aprire l’ingresso est del perşembe Pazarı , il mercato del pesce situato all’uscita del molo dei traghetti, i luoghi di ristorazione nelle sue vicinanze e il trasformatore elettrico è stato rimosso nell’ambito della proposta e si vuole creare una piazza. Il mercato del pesce soppresso è stato spostato nelle sezioni commerciali al piano terra della zona proposta. L’obiettivo è creare spazi pubblici che trasformeranno la costa appartata a in lavoro giorno e notte, dando continuità all’asse verde sulla costa del Corno d’Oro e del Bosforo creando un parco verde urbano, che è stato rinnovato con centri culturali e commerciali. Inoltre, era finalizzato ad arricchire il contesto storico commerciale e culturale della Persembe Pazari, e ad ospitare vari eventi pubblici con strutture ricettive a breve termine e aree espositive. Di conseguenza, la situazione caotica causata da uno sviluppo indefinito e non pianificato è stata tentata di essere risolta.
