The aim of this thesis is to implement two different control schemes for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) using two synchronised Texas Instruments microcontroller boards. To this aim, a theoretical study of the model of the machine and the power converter was carried out first. After that, an overview of the adopted instrumentation is reported in this thesis. Next, the operation of the absolute encoder installed on the machine was studied, characterising the toothed wheel as well as relating its profile to the corresponding inductance one and creating a Simulink program to read the average rotation speed. Then, some simulations were carried out to develop and test the proposed control logics. Therefore, a Simulink model was created for the motor drive, including a description of the adopted PI controllers. This model was exploited both in standard and PIL simulations, which means that the microcontroller can be tested without connecting any actual motor. Finally, an experimental laboratory set-up was arranged for the motor drive. The experimental tests were carried out for different speed profiles, first in Open Loop and, then, in Closed Loop control.

Abstract
The experimental tests were carried out for different speed profiles, first in Open Loop and, then, in Closed Loop control.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
