Smart materials are one of the most interesting class of materials. Due to their unique properties they are studied and investigated by researcher every day, in order to give the possibility to the industry to use them in new applications. To permit this fundamental passage some models that can describe their behaviour are required in order to make the design phase more simple. The aim of this work is to propose a model to describe light induced polymers made of azobenzene, in which the light can interact with the chromophore of the material and give it different properties. Due to the multiphysics nature of the problem different constitutive equations are used: one for the description of the behaviour of the light and one for the description of the mechanical problem. That equations are then solved numerically through the use of the commercial finite element software Abaqus™ and the implementation of a user defined element(UEL). The code is then used in order to investigate different configurations.

Abstract
The code is then used in order to investigate different configurations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
