Monitor cost of poor quality to promote the constant cost reduction : Technoprobe case study

The thesis shows the development of a continuous improvement project in an Italian company, leader in the semiconductor market. The project is implemented in accordance with the A3 methodology. Starting from the definition of the objectives set by the company, the current situation is critically analyzed, with in-depth analysis of the root causes that lead to certain issues. Subsequently, countermeasures are developed in order to solve the problems. Finally, the results are monitored, and future improvements are suggested. This project has two main objectives: monitoring the costs of poor quality, and reducing them with specific actions. The first objective is achieved through the implementation of a dashboard showing weekly cost trends. The dashboard is created using software that allows automatic updating of it. The second objective is tackled by introducing specific countermeasures to improve the production process. Specifically, process changes are implemented for the removal of root causes.

La tesi mostra lo sviluppo di un progetto di miglioramento continuo in un'azienda italiana, leader nel mercato dei semiconduttori. Il progetto è realizzato seguendo la metodologia A3. Partendo dalla definizione degli obiettivi fissati dall'azienda, l’attuale situazione viene criticamente analizzata, con un'analisi approfondita delle cause che portano a determinate problematiche. Successivamente, si sviluppano le contromisure per risolvere i problemi. Infine, si monitorano i risultati e si suggeriscono i miglioramenti futuri. Questo progetto ha due principali obiettivi: monitorare i costi della scarsa qualità, e ridurli con azioni specifiche. Il primo obiettivo è raggiunto attraverso l'implementazione di una dashboard che mostra le tendenze settimanali dei costi. La dashboard è realizzata utilizzando un software che ne permette l'aggiornamento automatico. Il secondo obiettivo viene affrontato introducendo contromisure specifiche per migliorare il processo produttivo. In particolare, vengono implementate modifiche al processo per la rimozione delle cause.
