M(eat)ing. A turning point for the Milan ex-Macello area

The thesis explores the process of urban regeneration of the area of the former slaughterhouse in v.le Molise in Milan. The wide design area currently represents an overwhelming urban void, a wound filled only by the buildings that once used to fulfill their function and that were abandoned in 2005. The area represents a very important point for the future evolution of the city, as it is a node that brings together the dense urban fabric of the city and the agricultural belt around it.The thesis project aims to be a mean toward the urban regeneration process of the city, using architectural composition practices and urban design tools to bring the area back to life.

La tesi affronta il processo di rigenerazione urbana per l'area dell'ex macello comunale di Viale Molise a Milano. La vasta area di progetto ad oggi si presenta come un gigantesco vuoto urbano colmato solo dagli edifici che originariamente servivano a svolgere la regolare funzione macello, ora abbandonati dal 2005. Quest’area si trova in un punto strategico per l'espansione urbana di Milano poiché ricopre il ruolo di nodo fra la zona urbana e la zona agricola/industriale. Il progetto di tesi si propone come mezzo per la rigenerazione di questa parte abbandonata della città, impiegando composizione architettonica e rigenerazione urbana come mezzi fondamentali per la sua rinascita.
