The renewed interest in urban regeneration indicates a new consciousness towards the use of the resources we have, which directly involves the population, generating a new approach for these interventions. The topic, attributable to the broader theme of participation in the design culture at different scales, has been investigated through a research activity concerning process innovation in the context of actions and projects for the regeneration of the so-called “suburbs of living” (periferie dell’abitare). Starting in 2008, the year that actually marked the beginning of the global economic crisis, particular attention was paid to the issues related to the so-called urban reactivation: public or private spaces that over time have lost their original function, in disused, located in central or peripheral areas without distinction, have returned to the centre of the contemporary architectural debate. The regeneration of these spaces has become a current and complex theme because it must take into account the changes that they have, and which are still characterising our society: the economic crisis on the one hand, but also the definition of new political, social and technological conditions that are redefining the spaces in which we live. The aim of this thesis is to study the way in which urban reactivation interventions are carried out, and to describe the possible contribution of the project as a tool to promote the success of such interventions by foreseeing the social, procedural and morphological frameworks of possible strategies. A significant aspect of the work concerns the definition of the operational and cognitive tools of the activating architect, including technologies capable of managing the multidimensionality of the reactivation project. Methodologically, the objective is pursued by combining theoretical research with the analysis of case studies, as well as carrying out field activities such as interviews and reactivation project initiatives conducted in the real world. The approach is therefore halfway between the inductive and deductive method, in order to outline, through a process of progressive refinement of knowledge, the characteristics of the reactivation intervention and the useful tools for managing its implications in the project.

Abstract
The approach is therefore halfway between the inductive and deductive method, in order to outline, through a process of progressive refinement of knowledge, the characteristics of the reactivation intervention and the useful tools for managing its implications in the project.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
