Green wedge. The reconstruction of Recco stream

In Recco and other cities of the Genoa metropolitan area, the landscape of coastline always seems to be the focus of people’s attention. While the cities of Liguria continue to attract visitors with the views of sky and sea in their promotional films, rivers, inland and mountains are being ignored. And recco Stream is an example of this phenomenon. From the 18th century as a fortress to the 20th century as an industrial shipbuilding base, and then almost completely destroyed by World War II, the city's memory and the identity of its inhabitants are in need of restoration. The Recco Stream is the perfect entry point for a blue blet that lies in the heart of the city. But for the reasons of climate and urban planning, it has been suffered from many constraints and has not yet been able to integrate with the city. Since the beginning of the century, the municipality has developed and implemented a series of interventions and the department of urban planning has put forward some slogans for developing inland, but none of them have been completed yet. The municipality of Recco also realized the problem. Since the mayoral election of 1999, there are many beautiful perspectives of recco stream in their promotional videos, but unfortunately, none of them has been realized. The Recco stream has many problems which are also existed in the other cities of this area: 1. The Mediterranean climate brings irregularities in the distribution of rainfall 2. 2. The ecological values of the planners from the last century with regard to streams no longer fit contemporary needs 3. As times have changed, the need for streams has changed. Therefore, our design is based on solving these problems, and on this basis we hope to make the recco stream as a Green Wedge, bridging the inland and the coastline, and attracting people's concerns to the inland and the stream. We have therefore proposed four main strategies to solve these problems: Reduce, Recover, Recreate and Reconnect: Reduce aims to solve basic problems such as flooding; Recover is to create a good ecological base; Recreate aims to meet the needs of contemporary people for open space; Reconnect aims to integrate Recco Stream with the city. In the detailed design phase we have selected three parts to demonstrate how we have achieved these objectives which we have mentioned before in the complex surroundings context of the linear space.

A Recco e in altre città dell'area metropolitana di Genova, il paesaggio della costa sembra essere sempre al centro dell'attenzione della gente. Mentre le città della Liguria continuano ad attrarre i visitatori con le viste del cielo e del mare nei loro filmati promozionali, i fiumi, l'entroterra e le montagne vengono ignorati. E il torrente Recco è un esempio di questo fenomeno. Dal XVIII secolo come fortezza al XX secolo come base industriale di costruzione navale, e poi quasi completamente distrutta dalla seconda guerra mondiale, la memoria della città e l'identità dei suoi abitanti hanno bisogno di un restauro. Il ruscello di Recco è il punto d'ingresso perfetto per una bleta blu che si trova nel cuore della città. Ma per ragioni climatiche e urbanistiche, ha subito molte limitazioni e non ha ancora potuto integrarsi con la città.
