La Chiesa dei SS. Marcellino e Pietro a Cremona. Indagine storica e rilievi preliminari per l'adeguamento a sala da musica barocca

This thesis proposes a project for the reuse of the Church of SS. Marcellino and Pietro inserted in the fabric of the historic center of the city of Cremona and the only example of Jesuit architecture in Cremona. The Church is currently involved in a series of surveys and investigations aimed at verifying that the cracking panels, present on the vaulted roofing system of the nave and on the facade, can generate further phenomena of subsidence or collapse or are linked to past construction phases. : first the church building and then the construction and extension of the school complex, once connected to it. The leitmotif of the project is first of all historical and archival research which has proved to be fundamental also in the design choices, as the building conceals important historical events linked not only to the complex architecture of the factory but also to the political life it has influenced in the management of the ex-Jesuit architectural heritage by the various municipal councils that followed one another following the expulsion of the Compagnia del Gesù from Cremona (1773). The building currently not used for liturgies and only on rare occasions for concerts of sacred music, deserves to return to being a place known and lived by the Cremonese community itself and beyond.

Questa tesi propone un progetto di riuso della Chiesa dei SS. Marcellino e Pietro inserita nel tessuto del Centro Storico della città di Cremona e unico esempio di architettura Gesuita cremonese. La Chiesa è al momento interessata da una serie di rilievi e indagini volte a verificare che i quadri fessurativi, presenti sul sistema di copertura a volte della navata e in facciata, possano generare ulteriori fenomeni di cedimento o crollo oppure siano legate alle fasi di cantiere passate: prima la fabbrica della Chiesa e successivamente la costruzione e ampliamento del complesso scolastico, un tempo ad essa connessa. Filo conduttore del progetto è innanzitutto la ricerca storica e archivistica che ha dimostrato essere fondamentale anche nelle scelte progettuali, in quanto l’edificio cela al suo interno vicende storiche importanti legate non solo all’architettura complessa della fabbrica ma anche alla stessa vita politica che ha influito nella gestione del patrimonio architettonico ex-gesuitico da parte delle diverse giunte comunali che si sono susseguite a seguito dell’espulsione della Compagnia del Gesù da Cremona (1773). L’edificio al momento non usato per liturgie e solo in rare occasioni per concerti di musica sacra, merita di ritornare ad essere un luogo conosciuto e vissuto dalla stessa comunità cremonese e non solo.
