Cortocircuiti dialogici e generi non conformi nei mondi binari. Riflessioni semiotiche oltre la dicotomia del binarismo

This thesis project aims to investigate, starting from the theme of the otherness of the ego, the question of non-binary gender. We are in a world that has always been characterized by an endless variety of different selves and today a slice of the population questions the cultural categorization that is perpetuated on each of us. The heteronormative binarism of the world will be addressed centrally in the research, highlighting different realities from all those that follow (or manage to adapt) consciously or unconsciously to the cultural figure that has been imposed on us, underlining how often the ego does not understand the other because it does not re-enter in a well-defined cultural mindset. The difficulties encountered by nonbinary figures when colliding with a binary world will be analyzed, and subsequently the linguistic tools implemented to remedy the possible linguistic, relational and cognitive misunderstandings. The main focus will be on inclusiveness in the Italian discourse, re-proposing the stratagems used by the LGBTQIA + community, by linguists and speakers of the language itself who care about the problem. The journey begins with an analysis of the itineraries of feminist movements and how they have led to an initial demolition of the categories that have crystallized in our culture and minds, arriving to articulate a discourse on Queerness. It will be useful to investigate the origins of the term to subsequently understand the reasons why the I and the Other enter the aforementioned communicational short circuit. Finally, a reflection will be proposed on the need to undermine the cultural binary and on how it would be possible to do so. We will also talk about the perception of the self and the need to re-propose nonstereotyped images, on different media, in order to facilitate the construction of new categorizations and build or modify the old mental habit, to make room for a new one.

Questo progetto di tesi mira ad indagare, partendo dal tema dell’alterità dell’Io, la questione del genere non binario. Difatti, in un mondo da sempre caratterizzato da una sterminata varietà di Io diversi tra loro, oggi una fetta della popolazione mette in discussione la categorizzazione culturale che viene perpetuata su ognuno di noi. Nella ricerca si affronterà centralmente la binarietà eteronormata del mondo, mettendo in risalto realtà diverse da tutte quelle che seguono (o riescono ad adattarsi) in modo conscio o inconscio alla figura culturale che ci è stata imposta, sottolineando come spesso l’Io non comprenda l’Altro perché non rientra in un abito mentale ben delineato culturalmente. Verranno analizzate le difficoltà constatate dalle figure non-binary quando si scontrano con un mondo binario, e successivamente gli escamotage linguistici attuati per ovviare alle possibili incomprensioni linguistiche, relazionali e cognitive. Il focus maggiore sarà sull’inclusività nel discorso italiano, riproponendo gli stratagemmi utilizzati dalla comunità LGBTQIA+, da linguisti e dai parlanti della lingua stessa che hanno a cuore il problema. Il percorso inizia da un’analisi sugli itinerari dei movimenti femministi e di come essi abbiano portato ad un iniziale abbattimento delle categorie che si sono cristallizzate nella cultura e nelle menti, arrivando ad articolare un discorso sul Queer. Sarà utile indagare le origini del termine per comprendere successivamente le motivazioni per cui l’Io e l’Altro entrano nel suddetto cortocircuito comunicazionale. Infine, si proporrà una riflessione riguardante la necessità di scardinare il binarismo culturale e sul come sarebbe possibile farlo. Si parlerà, inoltre, di percezione dell’Io e della necessità di riproporre immagini non stereotipate, sui diversi media, al fine di facilitare la costruzione di nuovi incasellamenti e costruire o modificare il vecchio abito mentale, per fare spazio ad uno nuovo.
