The thesis describes a new project that an English JV, BBB, is going to run in few months; in fact BBB has won the bid for supplying fasteners to Ford in its plants of Koln(Germany) and Craiova(Romania) where the new engines FOX are going to be manufactured. The aim of this dissertation is to analytically describe the new BBB project, highlighting its logistics costs from an academic point of view; moreover the goal is to recognize the best way BBB has to supply Ford plants not only on a mere logistics base, but also considering the financial and legal issues included in such a international project. The information and data elaborated have been obtained by interviews and numerous e- mails mainly with Sukhvinder Gill, Project Director and company supervisor of the thesis; the experience has been moreover enriched by several visits to BBB facilities around Europe. In this context has been defined the flows mapping and the characteristics of the fiscal and financial setting of the project. Even if heavily affected by Ford’s requests, it’s possible to affirm that the setting arranged by BBB and hereby described is the optimal one because allows the handling of the material respecting the policy on whom the JV has been founded on; moreover it allows the simplification of the payments flow and determines the minimization of the overall costs because don’t generate relevant administrative costs. The stock holding cost calculations have highlighted some costs that BBB should include while running the business or could save if working efficiently.
La tesi descrive un nuovo progetto che una JV Inglese, BBB, sta sviluppando e che riguarda la fornitura di fasteners per gli stabilimenti Ford di Colonia (Germania) e Craiova (Romania) dove i nuovi motori FOX saranno prodotti. L’obiettivo della tesi è di analizzare quantitativamente i costi del setting logistico progettato da BBB per fornire Ford, e cercare di evidenziare come il sistema legale e finanziario ha influenzato tali scelte. Inoltre BBB ha chiesto di fornire un quadro generale del progetto considerando le teorie accademiche soprattutto a riguardo agli aspetti logistici. Le informazioni e i dati ricavati sono stati ottenuti attraverso interviste e numerose e-mail soprattutto con il Project Director nonchè correlatore della tesi Sukhvinder Gill; l’esperienza è stata inoltre arricchita da diverse visite nei vari impianti e uffici di BBB in Europa. Da tali informazioni si sono ricavate le mappature dei flussi e l’analisi fiscale e finanziaria complessiva del progetto. E’ stato quindi affermato che anche se influenzato dalle richieste di Ford, la struttura logistica progettata da BBB è quella ottimale per servire Ford, consentendo di gestire il flusso delle merci rispettando le policy aziendali di BBB; inoltre permette di semplificare il flusso dei pagamenti e determina la minimizzazione dei costi totali, non generando costi di amministrazione rilevanti. I calcoli per la gestione delle scorte hanno evidenziato determinati costi che BBB dovrebbe considerare nel pricing verso Ford e anche costi che potrebbero essere ulteriormente risparmiati con logiche di lavoro più efficienti.
