Industrial pollution takes on many faces. It contaminates several sources of drinking water, releases unwanted toxins into the air and reduces the quality of soil all over the world. Factories can also be directly blamed for destroying certain areas of nature on our beautiful planet. LafargeHolcim Factory is a polluting cement plant that exists with its expandable quarries on one of the richest and prettiest towns in Lebanon, attacking its environmental life and causing damages to its nature with serious diseases for the residents of the whole Koura region and its surrounding. The people of Koura are calling for the closure of the factory to protect their lands from the destruction practiced since 1931. They are also asking to replace the factory with healthy establishments therefore creating sustainable environments free from burdens of industrial pollution. My proposal is to replace this heavy cement factory by a touristic and cultural complex giving the chance for the people of Koura to benefit from the town’s nature and sources. Aiming to transform the area from a polluting one to a productive and livable coast, in addition to supplying the region with lacked services. The rehabilitation and planting of the quarries resulted from the factory is one of the actions covered by this proposal to support the agricultural activities aiming for the economy independency of the region. In this proposal, the demolishing of the solvable existing structure of the factory wasn’t an option. The approach followed is to preserve as much as possible the buildings and reuse them for the new functions.
L'inquinamento industriale assume molte facce.

Abstract
The approach followed is to preserve as much as possible the buildings and reuse them for the new functions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
