Levitas : armonia tra storia e benessere. Progetto di valorizzazione del collegio di Celana in Val San Martino

Around 1500 in Celana, a hamlet of Caprino Bergamasco, a small seminary was built next to the church of S.M. Assunta. The building, at first small in size, underwent over the centuries different expansions, until it became the current majestic complex of 25000 square meters symbol of the Valley. After its closure in 2014 there was much debate about its revival, since both the Board of Directors of the College and the local government, felt the need to enhance the building and the landscape. From these assumptions, the thesis project aims to give a new life to the complex, enhancing its history, the surrounding landscape and the sense of well-being perceived. The project was preceded by an important phase of analysis and knowledge of the surrounding and the building, carried out through bibliographic and archival researches and on-site measurements. These steps, combined with the emotions felt during the site visit, have allowed us to imagine an attractive intervention on a large scale by finding the interest of both residents of neighboring municipalities, and attracting tourists on a vast scale. The result is LEVITAS, a complex focused on the improvement of oneself, where the newfound lightness of mind leads to the achievement of inner balance and an increase in vital energy. LEVITAS is the place where the turistic part linked to wellness and the associative part find their best combination, and the spaces en "plein air" act as a trait d'union between the various souls of the complex making them synergistic and vital. Due to the size of the spaces, the concept is developed with a step by step action, focusing the first design on the enhancement of the oldest courtyard of the complex, in which the accommodation is inserted; in parallel, we focused on the recovery of the Sixties buiding, redesigned to host the wellness center, redefining from scratch the connection between these two parts. The feasibility of the project has also been analyzed through an important phase of regulatory verification and engineering, supported and integrated by the use of information modeling and different software that have allowed us to perform more easily the analysis. All this has permitted to determine an innovative project of valorization, able to combine the high historical and architectural value with the needs of development and feasibility of a complex and a territory such as those of the college.

Attorno al 1500 a Celana, frazione del comune di Caprino Bergamasco, nasce un piccolo seminario a fianco della chiesa di S.M. Assunta. L’edificio, dapprima di dimensioni contenute, subisce nel corso dei secoli differenti ampliamenti, fino a diventare l’attuale imponente complesso di 25000 mq simbolo della Valle. A seguito della sua chiusura nel 2014 si è dibattuto molto sul suo rilancio, poiché sia il Consiglio di Amministrazione del Collegio sia le amministrazioni locali, sentivano la necessità di valorizzare l’edificio ed il suo contesto. Da questi presupposti prende avvio il progetto di tesi per dare una nuova vita al complesso, valorizzando la sua storia, il paesaggio circostante ed il senso di benessere percepito. Il progetto è stato preceduto da un’importante fase di analisi e conoscenza del luogo e del costruito, eseguita tramite indagini bibliografiche, archivistiche e rilievi in situ. Questi passi, uniti alle emozioni provate durante il sopralluogo, hanno permesso di immaginare un intervento attrattivo su ampia scala trovando il coinvolgimento sia dei residenti dei comuni limitrofi, che attraendo turisti a più lungo raggio. Nasce quindi LEVITAS, un complesso incentrato sul miglioramento del proprio io, dove la ritrovata leggerezza dell’animo porta al raggiungimento dell’equilibrio interiore e ad un aumento dell’energia vitale. LEVITAS è il luogo in cui la parte ricettiva legata al benessere e la parte associativa trovano il loro connubio migliore, dove gli spazi en “plein air” agiscono da trait d’union tra le varie anime del complesso rendendole sinergiche e vitali. Data la vastità degli spazi il concept è sviluppato con un’azione step by step, focalizzando la prima progettazione sulla valorizzazione della corte più antica del complesso, in cui si inserisce la struttura ricettiva; in parallelo, ci si è concentrate sul recupero della stecca anni Sessanta, ripensata per ospitare le attività del centro benessere, ridefinendo ex novo il collegamento tra queste due parti. La fattibilità del progetto, inoltre, è stata analizzata anche attraverso un’importante fase di verifica normativa e di ingegnerizzazione, affiancata e integrata dall’uso della modellazione informativa e di differenti software che hanno permesso di svolgere più facilmente le analisi. Tutto ciò ci ha consentito di determinare un progetto di valorizzazione innovativo, capace di coniugare l’alto valore storico e architettonico con le esigenze di sviluppo e fattibilità di un complesso e di un territorio quali quelli dell’ex collegio.
